Lorrie Brown
Lorrie was raised in Texas and spent many of those years on a ranch where all our animals were pets and not raised for food.I moved to Missouri in 1987 and brought my love of animals with me! Even as a child, she did not play with baby dolls or Barbies; She had stuffed animals and lots of them! In grade school, Lorrie brought a gerbil home from a school field trip and hid him in her armoire at home and in her school locker during the day. Needless to say, Lorrie hasalways found that animals bring her happiness. Lorrie married her husband 26 years ago,and together they built miles of trails on their land to interact with our wildlife and help protect the deer from hunters. She has raised 2 wonderful children who have inherited her love for animals!

Genie Burton
Genie Burton was born near Spokane, WA. Her father was in the Air Force, so she has lived in states from Maine to California and the Panama Canal Zone. She has a B.S. in Education from Millersville State College in Millersville, PA, and taught Math for three years in Union, Missouri.
She is retired from a career in Project Management and lives with her husband in Burlington, WI. She is new to writing and illustrating, and now that she is retired, she decided to write the book she wishes she could have shared with her daughter when she was young. She and her daughter used to love to explore the illustrations in picture books and create their own stories from the objects or characters in the pictures. Those “Up to You Stories” they created are now lost to time. That encouraged her to write this book for parents, friends, grandparents, or anyone who wants to create, share, and collect keepsake memories with the special child or children in their lives.

Debbie Foley
Debbie Foley is a retired teacher. She’s excited to combine her joy of writing with her love of photography to share this children’s book highlighting birds from A to Z.
She spent the last 25 years teaching elementary students in the public-school systems of Minnesota and Missouri. At Missouri State University, she earned a master’s degree in administration, but loved being in the classroom, so teaching is what she did. She loves the joy and wonder of students and their journey to learn, solve problems, and achieve their goals.
Her two amazing uncles, who are knowledgeable photographers, provided guidance and patience, allowing her to enjoy a side career in photography. She has developed a never-ending affection for the adventures of wildlife photography. She gets excited by the challenges of capturing the moment, from the smallest fly to the largest mammal. There are so many variables to consider with each shot: weather, wind, clouds, sunlight, and extreme changes in temperature, along with the unexpected movements of the birds. She takes pictures to share the surrounding beauty with others.
Previously, she wrote three romance novels published under the pseudonym Sonny D. Stone (The Ups and Downs of a Woman’s Heart, The Ins and Outs of a Woman’s Dreams, and The Back and Forth of a Woman’s Love). This trilogy was written for an older audience. While her earlier works explored the complexities of adult relationships, her passion for storytelling and teaching young minds has now led her to create something special for younger readers.

Linda Mai
Linda S. Mai boldly addresses difficult subjects in her writing. As a cancer survivor, her debut children’s book, Deidra’s Dolly (Young Dragons Press, 2022), explores how friendships and families cope through the challenges of childhood cancer.
Besides serious themes, she treasures whimsical and lighthearted stories, as seen in Imagine a Zoo (Young Dragons Press, 2024). Once she began writing, her ideas flourished, outpacing the hours available to commit them to paper. As an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), she has discovered that attending classes and engaging in critique groups are invaluable for refining her craft. Her background as a teacher, art appreciation instructor, Sunday school teacher, and children’s choir director serves as a rich source of inspiration for her work.
Growing up in Wyoming, Linda spent her childhood camping and fishing, keeping pace with her spirited cousins and mischievous brother. She considered herself a tomboy, but gathering eggs on her grandmother’s farm frightened her more than she cared to admit.
With a family of educators—including her uncle, grandmother, mother, and several aunts—Linda naturally gravitated towards teaching third grade, a role she cherished. It wasn’t until her own children were grown and starting families of their own that she embarked on her writing journey. Linda lives in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
